Welcome to my new look website, I hope you enjoy discovering a little more about me and my work. I cherish our outdoor spaces : the magnificent beaches, coastal paths and pockets of glorious nature and I hope that people who see and collect my work feel that love! My style of painting is to uplift and inspire others to take a moment from our busy lives and enjoy the natural world.
Living on a Pembrokeshire small holding (two miles from the coast) provides the perfect motivation for my paintings. Strolling the coastal path with the dogs, is a great way to plan my next creative adventure.
I am so excited to share my explanation of my work in the Artist Statement below. Check out my Portfolio for images of past and present work.
My Shop is now live, so if you fancy giving yourself a treat or a wonderful present – please take a look. Feel free to share anything you like – it’s great to have the support, thanks.
2022 promises to be a sensational year, with exhibitions in Cardigan, Picton Castle and Tregwynt Mansion. I will be busy completing children’s book illustrations and teaching batik, watercolours and oil painting to Pembrokeshire based art groups.
This week’s featured paintings …..
Coastal living is the foundation of my work – whether it be stormy seas, dramatic light and shadow, stretching vistas to the horizon or just my fascination of the natural edges between land and sea. I am surrounded by fresh air and the textures of nature – how can a painter fail to be moved !!
Music is my ‘mood’ inspiration while I paint, to help me capture my emotional response. My work is unlike a photograph – it represents a more personal vision of the subject through the techniques applied, chosen colours and textures, to provide an impression. So it should be no surprise to know that the following artists influence my work : Cezanne, Monet, Van Gogh, Chagall, Klimt, Pollock, Matisse & Hundertwasser. I work mostly in oils and acrylics and I always enjoy making the most of a happy accident.
